LYDIA BRITTAN & THE ROYAL FAMILY

The Lydia Brittan & The Royal Family experience is like a vivid flashback to the sixties, one that transports you straight onto the set of Shindig, but with modern sounds reminiscent to Lake Street Dive and Amy Winehouse piercing through.

No matter where they are or what they do, Lydia Brittan & The Royal Family stands out. There’s nothing typical about them. In person and on stage, they’re a classy dressed band with spunk and panache’ laced with timeless elegance. Musically, Lydia just as easily echoes Motown soul, and can also ignite with classic Etta James. Blessed with soaring vocals and a natural instinct for hook, she is redefining what is possible for the modern music market. Lydia Brittan & The Royal Family in the tradition of classic American roots music has somehow become a one-of-a-kind band. They have enjoyed their Saturday Residency at Black Rabbit since 2019.

The Willies

The Willies bring their version of Bessie Smith meets The Clash to The Black Rabbit the first Thursday of every month (usually)! There’s Dave Willie (Committee for Public Safety) fronting on bass. and Jen Jones,(The Camaros) fronting on piano. With the Flannery O’Conner styled Jeremiah Cline, on banjo, this 7 piece New Orleans inspired ‘horn band’  brings old-timey busking inside.  Expect energetic, muscular, rollicking, original music, peppered with Trad Jazz, Blues, and Oi style gang vocals.

The Willies are Nashville based roots artists conjuring the spirit of that time before bordello jazz & dirty fingernail blues were the background music for baristas and doggy bakeries. But as veterans of the American underground, the Willies aren’t interested in reenacting the rough and tumble legacy of 20’s swing & blues... they embody that energy. And these genres are only starting points... vintage bottles to contain several lifetimes of experience in the Jazz, Blues, Punk, and Americana underground.
